Dave Polley shares his experiences
building his first electric airplane.
Here's a great article by Bob Crawford
about how to produce beautiful results with film coverings.
David Polley gives up his secrets
to reliable engine performance.
Fellow Club Members,
Hobby Express is now carrying the "Morgan" line of
Model fuels including Omega 15% for 2 stroke engines. I have
personally used the Omega for years, and I find to be an excellent
performing model fuel. It is a castor / synthetic blend of fuel
specifically designed for ABC engines, and engines that run
especially hot, because of cowls, or other mounting environments.
The castor / synthetic blend also runs cleaner and has less residue
and build up from castor oil baking on the engine head and muffler.
The idle setting my engines is very stable and smooth as some of you
know when I fly my twins. I don't even need an "idle bar"
type glow plug even with the engines inverted. They have a whole
assortment of model fuels for 4 stroke engines, helicopters, and
pylon racing fuels as well. All you have to do is ask Scott to order
what you want and he can get it in a couple of days. I know he has
the Omega in stock right now.
Secondly, The K&B company has sold off to a company called
"Model Engine Company Of America" of MECOA They are now
carrying the K&B Engine line and their Glow Plugs. As some of
you know, I have been a fanatic about K&B glow plugs, especially
on my O.S. engines. It has been very hard for our hobby shops to get
these plugs for the last couple of years, and I have had to mail
order them in the past to keep up a supply. What is funny is that, I
end up keeping the plugs I have on my engines, and end up giving
away all of the plugs I have purchased for others to try. Training
nights and training weekends have been where most of the plugs end
up as gifts to new people who are having trouble getting their new
engines running.
Hamilton Hobbies, and Hobby Express are now going to start
carrying these plugs in stock again. Hobby Express has ordered 36
for their hobby shop, and John Snell has just e-mailed me back from
Hamilton Hobbies, that they are ordering 24 to have in stock in the
very near future.
I know many of you have your own style of fuels and plugs that
you are used to, but if you want to perk up that engine a bit. I
would encourage you to try the K&B plug "1L" with the
Omega 15% glow Fuel and give it a try. I think you will see a
difference it what you have been using.
Just letting everybody know. Thanks
David A. Polley
